Bolton Council

Bolton Council is committed to working with partners from across Bolton to improve the quality of life for people in the borough. We have two main aims: achieving economic prosperity, and narrowing the gap between the most and least well off. Supporting people to develop their skills and make the most of their talents is an important part of our work, helping people to compete in the workplace and take advantage of employment opportunities locally and elsewhere in the region. This Jobs and Skills Fair forms an important part of our plans because it will help us to:

  • Raise awareness of what training and employment opportunities are available
  • Help us to match people to jobs that are available now
  • Help people to develop their skills to achieve their potential – both now and in the future

Bolton at Home

We work to improve homes and regenerate neighbourhoods in Bolton, managing a social housing stock of almost 18,000 properties and employing nearly 1,000 people. Run by a board and sub-committees made up of councillors, independent members and tenants, we are a registered charity and took ownership of Bolton Council’s homes in 2011. Our skilled and experienced staff are committed to creating homes and neighbourhoods to be proud of, which includes supporting communities to achieve their goals. As a partner of Bolton’s Jobs and Skills Fair we will help local residents build their skills and confidence, and increase their employment opportunities.

Jobcentre Plus

Jobcentre Plus is part of the Department for Work and Pensions, as an organisation we aim to tackle poverty and welfare dependency through a system that encourages people to find work. We provide and deliver a range of initiatives to support employers, training organisations and local unemployed people in the community. We are working with partners in Bolton to ensure the Bolton Employment and Jobs Fair is a huge success. The event will provide great opportunities to obtain a range of information and advice on employment, training and apprenticeships, and the support employers can receive with their recruitment needs.
